Chapter 3: Group study in the Bible

Chapter 3: Group study in the Bible

The love of the world of God may grow within Bible study Groups if the people in charge build up and animate these Groups with mastery. Here are some examples:

In a Bible study Meeting, we can agree upon reading a certain number of chapters, each on his own, and then go back to discuss these chapters in the following meeting. It is preferable to give out questions for the members to answer in writing and then hold a discussion in the following meeting. This method is particularly suited to the Old Testament.

The leader of the group may agree with the members to have a team - reading of some chapters in church every day if this is convenient for the members. However, the discussion held during the reading should evolve around a particular aim such as extracting the verses, the symbols or the characters that refer to the Lord Jesus Christ in the Old Testament, or recording and collecting verses that deal with a specific topic in the New Testament such as: faith, love, redemption, ministry, peace... etc.

The leader should devote his attention to memorization drills of the biggest number of satisfying verses and passages such as the sermon on the mountain (Matthew 5 - 7)..

The Lord's final speech and intercessory prayer (John 14 - 17) , the chapter of love (1 Corinthians 13) and the chapter of faith (Hebrews 11). Moreover, the leader should give prizes to the distinguished members.

The discursive method is very important. This means to have a collective meditation and shared discussion of a particular chapter.

This helps the members to get used to spiritual contemplation, deep study, linking different parts of Bible together and expressing oneself in a way that is useful to the audience. This is a spiritual practice which is useful for the member and which would serve him in the future.
